It's December already!  We hope everyone had a wonderful holiday weekend, but it's time to dive into our winter festivities.

All this week we will be talking about the gingerbread man.  We will be comparing the many stories we read.  Here's a list of other great stories to share this month:

The Night Before Christmas (Jan Brett's has amazing illustrations), Clifford's Christmas, How Santa Lost His Ho, Ho, Ho, Bear Stays Up For Christmas, The Biggest Christmas Tree Ever, The Biggest Snowman Ever, Snow Party, How the Grinch Stole Christmas (our theme book of the month), If You Take a Mouse to the Movies, The Gingerbread Man, Gingerbread Friends

and many, many more!
Again, every title is a link to more information about each book (author, illustrator, version of story, etc.).

Make sure you check back for pictures of decorating gingerbread houses.

As teachers we are very thankful for each and everyone of our students.  They are very sweet and make teaching a joy!

(we are also very thankful for all of you following the blog)
Friday was Native American day in our class.  We had a great time at the Museum of Man presentation brought to us by Wake Forest.  Our students learned all about long houses, hunting, played instruments, and even reenacted a Native American story.
We sat in a circle around the camp fire to hear lots of stories .Our presenter had bear and fox fur for us to feel.  Very soft, but many of the kids kept asking where the eyes were.

After our presentation, we continued Native American day by making beads with our curriculum chums, Mr. Kremidas' 3rd grade class.  We meet with their class every Friday and each third grader has a kindergarten chum that they partner with.  It's become one of the highlights of the week for both of our classes.

Everyone did a great job wearing their green shirts on Friday.  We all matched and so we will close this blog with the class picture we took.

Just a reminder.....please have your child wear their Green Shirts tomorrow Friday, November 20.  Even if you have not gotten the letters on the back yet, they need to wear it.  Thanks!

We asked parents to get iron on letters for the t-shirts that were sent home yesterday, but there is another and maybe easier way.  Soccer Unlimited located at 3051 Trenwest Dr, Winston Salem, offers printing on the shirt in black letters for $3.00 a line (as many letters as you want that fit on that line).  This option may be a better one for you.

Turkeys and Our Smartboard

Our November family project was a great success. Our turkeys were so cute, we just had to share them with you all. The turkey’s are escaping the Thanksgiving table by pretending to be princesses, ninjas, polar bears, Batman, peacocks, and many more….

Our Smartboard was set up last week and this Monday we got to play on it!  The Smartboard is used in all types of lessons, including having some fun.  Our students played a find the turkey game to get used to using their eagle eye on the Smartboard...

We are very thankful for our Smartboard.  This week we continue to talk about what we are thankful for, the Mayflower and pilgrims, and (of course) turkeys!

Check back soon for what our students are most thankful for.
